If you time your half marathon finish to coincide with the Winner of the Woman's Marathon - you can get some good TV time.
This is a blog about home ownership, the internet, my cats, and Boston sports, and triathlon training.
Plus anything else that is interesting.

Oink Oink: Flying Pig 1/2 Marathon
We did it! Today was my 1st ever 1/2 Marathon, and considering my only other running race was a 10K in March - I'd say it went well. I felt better prepared for this one than the 10K. And while the 10K was run in 20 degree weather - I'd like to say the weather today was better for the half marathon but it was rainy and wet. And when we arrived it was also thundering and lightning! Also our shoes were soaked through before the start.
Brother Dave, Sister-in-law Molly, Mother-in-law Annie and Aunt-in-law Angie and I all finished the half today!
I decided to wear my Apple Jacks biking jersey and it was a hit. I got a lot of cheers for Apple Jacks! I also like how the color stick out.
A quick note on spectators
Meghan and her family (Dad, Brother, Cousin) and Karen were there to cheer us on - which was awesome and we stopped to talk with them for a few minutes.
I have to say that while running - having people cheer us on makes a BIG difference. With the weather I am guessing the crowds were smaller - but pockets of people and music really make a difference, and at times one individual spectator cheering us on can pump you up if they are really into it - one guy was in the street high-fiving everyone.
And there was an Elvis impersonator singing!
I didn't get to blog my goals beforehand - but my goal was to finish in under 3 hours - which I did - so maybe I won't have to do a half marathon ever again! I wanted to do it to motivate me to get in shape for the Triathlon and I think it worked, but I think the Triathlon is a lot more fun - probably because you are doing different things than just running.
I know 3 hours is not a great time - but I am really not a distance runner, plus with all of the Heart Rate stuff I had to go through with the cardiologist, I am assuming I am not built for speed in these endurance races.
Next up - the Spring Triathlon!
